Dinner and a Robot

Thursday, December 2, 2004, marked the Gaelhawks' 5th Annual Dinner and Auction Fundraiser. The auction took place in the Shelton High cafeteria, as always, and made quite an uproar.
The team members started planning for the event a month in advance, soliciting local businesses and companies for items that could be auctioned off to help raise funds for the team. After all the items were collected they were split into three categories for the Chinese, Live, and Silent Auctions.
The night went perfectly. The evening started around six o?clock, when guests could come in and bid on Silent and Chinese Auction prizes. The crowd went around bidding on many different items, including manicures, tickets, and gift certificates. Throughout the night, team members showcased last year?s robot to give the audience an idea of what kind of program we have. About an hour after the event started everyone sat down to eat the delightful dinner, catered by Smeraglino?s Caterers of Bridgeport.
Finally, the main event, the Live Auction, began. Some of the hot sellers from this year included ski passes, Yankee tickets, Uconn tickets, and weekend getaways. While the bidding was taking place, guests had many chances to win door prizes, and at the end of the evening the winners of the Silent Auction were announced.
The event was a huge success, and the team was able to raise about 00 as a result. Special thanks are extended to all who attended the event, as well as to those in the community who donated their goods and resources. We hope to see everyone again next year!
