Pitney Bowes' Diversity Day

Every year, Gaelhawk sponsor Pitney Bowes hosts a cultural fair, known as Diversity Day. This event, held on Saturday, September 10, 2005, celebrates all of the wonderful ethic groups that make up our nation. Groups representing many different countries, cultures, and people set up tables, offering anyone who attends food, music, and fun.

Due to Team 230's partnership with Pitney Bowes, the Robotics Team volunteers every year to demonstrate the robot and share a technological aspect of culture. Children are able to "get behind the wheel" of the robot, using the controls to perform simple tasks. Those who attend Diversity Day usually react to the robots with awe and amazement. One woman, convinced that the robots, "...aren?t real, they are just for show," could only exclaim with surprise when the robots moved.

Diversity Day is a chance for the Robotics Team to gain publicity, while also helping out in the community that gives them so much. Gaelhawk members could be seen everywhere, playing games with children and showing exactly what Diversity Day has to offer.

Throughout the day, there was much fun and excitement as everyone enjoyed the diverse cultures that were brought together at this event. Team 230 had just as much fun volunteering at this event as many children had participating it!
