Gaelhawks Shine at Home Regional
Written by Samantha Lipscomb on March 11, 2006The Gaelhawks attended their home state regional, the UTC New England Regional, on March 9th-11th, held for the first time in the all-new Hartford Convention Center. Teams from all over New England travelled to northern Connecticut for the competition, which housed FIRST Lego League and FIRST Vex competitions as well as the FIRST Robotics Competition. All 41 teams put on a good show, exercising spirit and gracious professionalism all three days.
Team 230 had a few technical difficulties with the robot, but were still picked for final rounds by Team 195, the Cyberknights, and Team 236, the Techno Ticks. While they did not advance past the Quarter Finals, the Gaelhawks were still in good shape.
Teams 177, 176, and 1124 became regional winners, while Team 236 won the Chairman's Award for the third time in a row. Team 230 won the Judge's Award, an award that recognizes a team's awesome effort in many different aspects of the competition.
The Gaelhawks will soon be travelling to Las Vegas for their second regional, where they expect to do very well. Good luck to all teams with their upcoming regionals!
