Team Kickoff

On Wednesday evening, October 18th, the entire Gaelhawks team met to officially open the 2007 First Robotics Season. Lou Schmecker, one of the team?s many mentors, was the speaker for the program. Mr. Schmecker was joined by all of the students on the team as well as the many parents that came to learn more about our group. During the presentation, Mr. Schmecker discussed the upcoming events for the season and everyone was excited to learn of Team 230?s registration for the Orlando, Florida regional competition to be held in March, in addition to the New England regional in Hartford. Mr. Schmecker went on to discuss the time commitments required by every member of the team and how much he was looking forward to a great season.

Another Team 230 Mentor, Tracy Hussey, then talked about the upcoming dinner and auction in December. As the team?s largest fundraiser, Mrs. Hussey stressed how important it was that all team members get involved and solicit local businesses for auction items. Every member then signed up for a region in Shelton of his or her choice in which to work in, and tickets were handed out to be sold for each.

After the presentation was over, the entire group enjoyed deserts and refreshments contributed by every team member, which provided for an excellent array of delicious treats.
