During the build season, there is limited time to do many of the things that are necessary for the team to team function. This is why the pre-season and post-season periods are critical. Before the kickoff, Team 230 works diligently to raise funds and prepare for the upcoming season so that the short, six week build season can be dedicated to building an award-winning robot.

The Dinner and Auction is one of the team\'s major fundraisers. The team contacts local businesses asking for donation to auction off. The team then sorts the objects into three categories for the three different types of auctions: Chinese Auction, Silent Auction, and Live Auction. During the Chinese auction, visitors participate in a drawing. During the Silent Auction, participants write down bids on a sheet of paper. Finally, the Live auction a Silent auction, and a Live auction, hosted by former SHS Headmaster Donald Ramia.

To attract attendees, each team member is given tickets to sell. This year, the food was catered by Liquid Lunch, a local business. The event was a huge success, with the team raising several thousand dollars.
