Team 230 ends a successful official robotics season with an impressive performance at the FIRST World Championship held April 15-17, 2010 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia finishing up as semi-finalists in the Galileo Division.  Seeding 31st at the end of the qualification matches the Gaelhawks were chosen as the first draft pick by Team 1305, Ice Cubed, out of North Bay, Ontario.  Along with Team 1714, More Robotics of Milwaukee, Wisconsin the alliance fought its way through teams 271 the Mechanical Marauders of Bay Shore, New York, 1717 D'Penguineers of Goleta, California, and 263 Sachem Aftershock of Lake Ronkonkoma, New York into the semi’s where they succumbed to 217 the ThunderChickens of Sterling Heights, Michigan, 1086 Blue Cheese of Glen Allen, Virginia, and 2429 LCEC of La Cañada, California in very close matches.

Throughout the competition Team 230’s robot performed flawlessly without a single breakdown.  A very big thank you goes out to our sponsors UTC/Sikorsky, UTC/IT Shared Services, OEM Controls, Intuitive Surgical, Balfour, and CTFirst for the last minute funding that enable the team to compete in Atlanta.
